WIP Weds: Old pattern renewed…

tami_wipHoly week is keeping me busy; Holy Wednesday today, Maunday Thursday, Good Friday, Saturday Easter Vigil, and Easter Sunday. Our Choir is singing at most of the services. Tuck in a Craft Group meeting, a Bible Study and a Knittin Club meeting. So I might be a little pokey with my next posting. If I don’t see you, wishing you and yours a Happy Easter!

Looking back through my early patterns, I thought a little updating was called for. I am rediting and reknitting this little sweater.

FO Friday: What this little sweater taught me…

Hello, it’s Friday again. First of all I’m still on my Yarn Diet! (week 1)

Finished Puerperium Cardigan in 6 days, what a delightful sweater to knit.  I altered the pattern a little using worsted instead of dk, which took this from a 15″ chest to a 20″ chest. I made it a little larger so it would fit a little longer.  Little man is so little right now, at only 14 days old. I’m hopeing that this sweater will still fit in the fall.

What I learned from this sweater: I sometimes have moments of illumination, this sweater had the curse of not finding the right buttons. I finally settled for these buttons. When it came time to sew them on I really took a close look at them trying to decide how to orient them. I put the button down to thread the yarn and the button flipped over and the back side was just what I hunted high and low for… on the card you couldn’t see the back. This button suited the yarn perfectly!

Surprise buttons!

This is a top-down sweater. I knit it from collar to heam placing the sleeves on waste ribbon. I use very narrow ribbon to hold stitches, it is cheap, it’s easy to pull out and it doesn’t leave tell tale fuzzies. I then attached the buttons, then divided the remaining yarn into two balls with special attention as to the direction I have been knitting on the ball.  I measured the diametre of sleeve opening (times 3 = 1 row), times 5 = 4 rows garter st + 1 row cast off + 6″ for tail made slip knot on both balls. Rewind balls and knit sleeves. Little complicated but guaranties sufficent yarn for both sleeves. Note only wasted 8″ of yarn!

Puerperium Cardigan – Finished!

WIP Weds and Friday’s at Tami’s

FO Friday: Autumn in Canada

Well Autumn is almost over.

The leaves are turning, colours that never look so good in knitting and spinning.

I live east of Toronto, Canada, on Lake Ontario. The weather here in the fall alternates between cool, wet and cool sunny. Fall only lasts a couple of weeks around here, leaves will probibly be gone by next week. If you missed it, wednesday I posted the pictures of the Bazaar.

Sadly these will be gone soon

Finished Baby Cardigan From Cabin Fever Basic Sweater, Size 9 months, on 5mm,  used Kertzer Northern Worsted (Black), Red Heart supersaver (Fall). 5 buttons.

This worked up surpisingly quickly

Finished the “Zig Zag Scarf” by Tina Berry, 5mm, used SMC Northern Worsted.

The Garage and front door is done! I wondered if they could be finished before the weather turned cold and white.

Well, that’s it for now. Have a good weekend.

Stop by Tami’s blog for more FO’s

FO Friday: Small Sweater finished

Sorry for missing WIP Weds, lots on the go but I was not.

My project this week was the Basic Pullover, knit on 4mm circs, in SMC Jacquard Bravo color Dk weight yarn. Made from 3 balls @ 3.99 cdn each. Can be purchased via interwebs from Soper Creek Yarns. This one may go in the drawer, or to the Bazaar. I don’t usually donate projects this expensive … however no little persons to put it on currently and it is a little gender specific.

Remember Dr. Suess, I made this little Hat this week and the family think it looks like a hat a Who would wear. For more details look here.

DH has significantly improved, next move is to get his drivers license back. Thanks for the kind thoughts and support.

Join the rest of the group and see more FO Friday at Tami’s Blog.

FO Friday: Grown-up, and XL Coffee Cup Sweater

Welcome to another productive week.

The boy turns into a 21 year old man tomorrow, and has invited the GF to meet the extended family… this is a first! Should I be worried? Maybe when she meets the lot of us together, she’ll head for the hills … she survived dinner with the immediate family… twice so far. I will update you on further developments.

2 years old, seems like yesterday

I continue working on the Immie Blanket, it is coming along nicely thank you for asking.

This week I developed and produced 2 “Another XL Coffee Cup Sweaters”  Here is the pattern. Please feel free to share it.

Free pattern to celebrate my baby’s Birthday
