XL CoffeeCup Sweater #1

XL Coffee Cup Sweater #1 (free Pattern)

In the cold winter, a hot coffee will stay that way in this sweater. This simple tapered pattern can be made out of odds and ends in just a few minutes.
I dedicate this free pattern to the people at Tim Horton’s, who cheerfully serve my coffee each morning!

No so sad sacks (free pattern)

Not so sad sacks

This is an excellent pattern for odds and ends. Makes a handy little bag for knitting bits and pieces or a gift bag.The bottom of the sack is worked as a flat stocking stitch square. The edge of the square is then picked up and knit as a tube. The sack will not fall over when put down. There is an option to add eyelets around the neck and garter with a ribbon or I cord.

Feathers and Fans for Baby Cardigan

This cute little cardi is perfect for a spring baby. Knit from the bottom up in one piece. The sleeves are knit on using Provisional cast on. It takes about a half of a ball, leaving enough to knit a hat and booties or another small sweater. Quick and easy with clear instructions, this baby sweater is a great last minute gift!

This will be the last toe-up sock pattern you will ever need. Clear instructions and pictures will guide you through the process, with suggestions and website references for techniques like Provisional Cast on, Russian Join and Short Rows. Learn some new and useful techniques. Make a basic sock that will fit you or a loved one perfectly. As the title says knit one and you will knit them by the dozen!

The pattern is Top-down with a Peter Pan Collar, and optional Lace pattern at the cuffs.  As with all my patterns, I try to include a new technique you may not have tried. This pattern is no different, try **Provisional cast on and Russian Bind off.** (This is optional of course). Video tutorial references are provided on the pattern.

Inside Outside Upside Down Mittens(3 in 1 Pattern)

Inside, Outside, Upside Down Mittens

This will be the last Mitten pattern you will ever need. Clear instructions and pictures will guide you through the process, with suggestions and website references for techniques like Provisional Cast on, Russian Join and How to reverse a thumb gusset. Learn some new and useful techniques.

3 in 1 Pattern:

1. Finger Tip down Mitten 2. Reversible Mittens that are knit from the fingertips of one side of the mitten to the cuff, then up the other side of the mitten to the fingertip of the reverse the mitt. 3. Traditional Bottom-Up Mitten.  These mittens can adjusted to fit as you are knitting them, so they will fit you or a loved one perfectly. They can be any colour or design, to suit more than one winter coat. Reversible Mittens, being double thickness they are also twice as warm. As the title says Inside, Outside, Upside Down Mittens

Warm Little Feet (3 sizes)

These playful little socks are made for 3 sizes, out of small amounts leftover sock yarn. So Mommy, or Daddy can have the matching socks with Baby! They are knit from the top-down with no pesky grafting at the toes. These socks are comfortable, warm and quick to knit while baby is napping.

Take Me with You Bag

Take me with you bag

While working on a portable project, I was looking for a bag that was just the right size. Needless to say, I was like Goldilocks. So irritation prompted me to get inventive again. No buttons on this one, and with a square base it can sit on any surface and not roll around. The top folds back and tucks neatly under the bag out of the way. I made it of 100% Cotton so it is machine washable. Will hold 4-50gm balls at once. Just right for socks and other small projects.

Water Bottle / Baby Bottle Sweaters

Water Bottle Sweater (or Baby Bottle sweater)

Stash Busting Project! Water Bottles and or Baby Bottles A yard or two of this and that, a couple of hours, and your water bottle will be cool and stylish as you are! Knit from the Bottom-up, with as many colours as you can stand. Finish up with either a hook for your belt or Icord strap. Like all my patterns, try something new, try a Noose cast on. Haven’t tried toe-up socks, or found them difficult? Try this and you’ll be a convert! Stop worrying have I got enough yarn for both socks? Divide your supply in half and start knitting. Make more replaceable heels or toes by using a different colour. This toe-up sock pattern is so easy you will want to knit a bunch. EZ toe cast on, and After Thought Heel instructions. Learn a new and useful construction option for socks. Make a basic sock that will fit you or a loved one perfectly. Try something new!

Another Stash Buster  Something special for someone special, give the gift of hugs and kisses to someone that you care about. This easy to make cellphone pocket is knit in the round, with an icord strap.

Ashley’s Blanket

This Baby blanket is perfect for cuddling up or dragging around. Just the right size for car seats and strollers. Comfy and warm, this blanket will be a favourite. The centre is cast on using the loop or noose method and the edge uses the Russian bind off, instructions for both are included.

Another Stash Buster!  If you have an EBook this is the cover you need. Show off your knitting with this padded cover, while protecting your precciouss. Great gift for a Baby Shower, or child’s birthday. At 24”x36” it is the perfect size for a crib, stroller, or a car seat. This comfy little blanket is knit from the bottom-up with Garter stitch borders and a flat edge stitch detail. The lace design is worked over 4 rows with only 2 lace rows to remember. Can be worked in any Worsted Weight yarn. Finer yarn can be used but size of blanket will be smaller and needle size may have to be adjusted.

A little dress for a little princess. Knit from the top down, with 4 row lace pattern, buttons up the back, this little dress is a perfect match for  “Grandma’s Little Treasure Cardigan”. As winter approaches here is an easy pattern for a collar, which takes only a small amount of yarn, so you can splurge on something yummy to knit it with. Quick to knit, and a great gift for those hard to buy for people on your list. One Size fits all, fitting low in front and back for extra warmth where it is needed. It curves over the shoulders to fit smoothly under any coat. This pattern is designed for use with Bulky, Aran, Worsted and Dk weight yarns. Knit from the Top Down, easy to make all you need to know is Cast on (long tail method), 2×2 rib, M1L, M1R and Cast off (in 2×2 rib). Video Tutorial references are also included.

Safety Line Marker, It’s a good thing!

While making socks with after thought heels, I decided that using waste yarn didn’t work for me so this experiment was born. I have used these threaded throught as safety lines several times, they went in easily, stayed in place and where easily removed. They are reuseable, a great little tool. Going to make long ones for shawl knitting safety lines.

You will need: 24” of 9 Ib plastic line 2 size 6/0 beads 1 light weight bead 1 – 2mm crip bead scissors pliers

Box’s with a Twist toe-up socks, an easy Fair Isle design that ends with a twist in the cuff. Variation on Bosnian toe cast on. Clear instructions and pictures will guide you through the pattern, with suggestions and website references for techniques like Provisional Cast on Short Rows, and Russian Join. Learn some new and useful techniques. Try it with a different colour for every design row, great for stash busting. Make a sock that will fit you or a loved one perfectly. Would look awesome in blue and silver grey for men! Difficulty Rating: Average skill level! Custom fit: Start with an outline of your foot and custom fit them. The nice thing about these socks is you can size them to fit any foot. Just try them on as you go. As long as your number of stitches is divisible by 4 they can be sized to any adult foot. The short row heel once you see the basic technique, it is easy to adjust for size. All the stitch numbers are merely suggested counts. So you can make these for anyone!

My Favourite Socks

It features an easy “Bosnian” toe-up cast on method and short row heelswith clear instructions and pictures that will guide you through the process, with suggestions and website references for techniques like Provisional Cast on, Russian Join and Short Rows. Learn some new and useful techniques. Make a basic sock that will make self stripping yarns look more interesting. No cuff ribbing is necessary with this texture stitch. You start with an outline of your foot and custom fit them. The nice thing about these socks is you can size them to fit any foot. Just try them on as you go. As long as your number of stitches is divisible by the charted repeats (in this case 2) they can be sized to any adult foot. The short row heel once you see the basic technique, it is easy to adjust for size. All the stitch numbers are merely suggested counts. So you can make these for anyone!

A quick, and easy, one ball project, perfect present for a new baby. The Cocoon is knit from the bottom-up, seamless and uses provisional cast off. The matching hat is cast on from the crown and worked to the cuff. (NOT meant for babies to sleep in unattended.)
Difficulty Rating: Easy!

Pattern Features: Top-down sock, easy to follow step-by-step instructions, sock is knit from cuff to toes, stitches are then picked up off of the inserted waste yarn and the heel is knit. This pattern can be knit with or without the pattern row. The size is adjustable, for larger or smaller feet.

Size: Ladies 7-9, Mens 8-9 (Easily adjusted to fit any size – see end of pattern)
Gauge: 30 st x 40 rows= 4” (can be knit in any gauge – see end of pattern)
Stitches used: Knit, Purl, K2tog, Emily Ockers Circular cast-on, Jeny’s surpisingly stretchy bind-off, m1 (make 1 by picking up bridging yarn between stitches knitwise, knit through back of stitch) pm (place marker), slm (slip marker)

    Hi Sue,
    I have thoroughly enjoyed viewing your projects and reading your blog. It was great to see the photos of the area day in Cobourg and the Anglican rosaries that were made. I enjoy our time at the Craft morning on Wednesdays and I am happy to be acquainted with such a wonderfully talented person. See you on Easter Sunday but I am not sure if I will be wearing my Easter bonnet! :)
