FO Friday: Declaration of War!

FOfriday

Yes War has been declared!

Leftover SockYarn Bunny season is open!

Beryl Blanket = 42 + 10 = 52 1/2 (Hexes Finished so far)

DSC02708

There is a puff version on ravely, that didn’t appeal to me as much. I don’t think it would survive the boyz and the furry moths! Here is my first experiment with half Hexes to even up the salvage, at the bottom edge.

Box of Boxes Blanket = 9

B

Just came to me one night as I was drifting off. I have odd balls of sockyarn leftovers I want to use up. The full squares are 5″ and quarters are 2 1/2″.

I have to find a project for DK, Worsted and Bulky yarn Bunnies next! Anyone with suggestions?

I finished the Modjeska Hat for DH late last night

Fits him nicely. He wares a rather large hat and he doesn't like ribbing, so I modified the pattern with a facing. It go very well with his winter coat.

WIP Weds: The Celebration Continues!

tami_wip

The festivities continue! My 2nd Blogaversary was yesterday,

Last Friday’s gift was Toddler Tootsies pdf  so today I have a 2nd present for you :0)

Micah’s Blanky

Great gift for a Baby Shower, or child’s birthday. At 24”x36” it is the perfect size for a crib, stroller, or a car seat. This comfy little blanket is knit from the bottom-up with Garter stitch borders and a flat edge stitch detail. Knit in worsted, so works up quickly. The lace design is worked over 4 rows with only 2 lace rows to remember.

Micah's Blankie

Micah’s Blankie

So on to my Works in Progress, it is Wednesday after all!

DH has been bugging for a new hat since DS pinched his. Truth is they both need a new one! Well I had been thinking about doing The Modjeska Hat that  texaspurlgurl gifted me last month. So here we go!

M

I modified the pattern by making a facing rather than ribbed edge. Living in Canada, my fella prefers a double thickness over his ears.

I continue to work on what I have now dubbed my Christmas sweater!

Moved to box as it is getting too large for my bag, and my furry children were getting too interested in it.

Moved to box as it is getting too large for my bag, and my furry children were getting too interested in it.

It may not be done till next Christmas ;0)

I have been Spring cleaning or fresh starting would be more accurate.
In shuffling through my Ravelry pgs.

I realized I have purchased 34 patterns and have only made 6!

New List! I love lists they make me feel so organized!

Audiobook I am reading while knitting:
Walden by Henry David Thoreau Read by Gord Mackenzie. I read this years ago, and found in it a call to simplification of life.

Book this week: The Warden by Anthony Trollope (Ebook)
I am so fond of The Barchester Chronicles Series I bought the Complete works of Anthony Trollope for my Kobo (only $2.88) There are books in this collection that are no longer in print, plus other writings and biography! This book is a particular favourite. The main character is such a nice little man and you really feel for him all the way through. Delightful, a classic worth reading!
Music offering: ”Great Big Sea” was such a success last week here is
Old Brown’s Daughter beautiful  acapella.

FO Friday: Is it Friday already?

I don’t know what happened since wednesday,

life got in the way and I didn’t get done half of

what I intended. Even this post was a last minute

effort, for which I apologize.

 Blissful moss rib washcloth #2

 Blissful moss rib washcloth #3

Elfish Hat

Sorry to report that this pattern was a dud. I riped it out 3 times and modified measurements in an attempt to make it work. Maybe it will work for you, but I gave up and frogged it. :0(

“Bombur’s Travelling Socks”.

Still under construction, hope to have progress for you on wednesday.

FO Friday: Not Just Red!

My theme this week was Christmas red. It was entirely unplanned, but that’s how it goes.  I am still working on Washcloths, I’ve made 4 so far and have about 9 more to do. The Honey/Ginger/Lemon production was limited this week as I ran out of Honey. I must think of a name for this concoction…

Sad to say that “Diablo II” is interfering with my knitting. DH installed it on the Laptop and I have been on a campaign to make the country side safe for settlers .

(and yes gaming can rot your brain and stiffen your fingers)

Meanwhile back to the knitting, and making things!

Cabled Feather Cowl

Bright Red Cowl

I highly recommend this cowl pattern, it was a pleasure to knit

Another washcloth

Reversible texture Washcloth, it is a really fast, easy, and a free washcloth pattern :0)

This is the 2nd, one of these I have knit, for a quick gift.

 Blissful Moss Rib dishcloth #1

This isn’t exactly red, another easy freebie pattern :0)

I also made a few jars of “Lemon, Ginger, Honey” for tea and sore throats, or just in hot water or for flavouring in tea.

For tea when there are sore throats or enjoy in cold weather. I also added the lemon juice from the stubs of the lemons.

Note that 2 have red seals and 2 green seals!

Book of the week: I have finally finished listening to

“Lord of the Rings” on YouTube.

Here are the all the links to the complete audio book,

Part 1 to 6,   Part 7 to 9.2

  Part 10, Part 11, Part 12  and Part 13 (of 13)

Now we have finished  “The Lord of the Rings” and since “The Hobbit” is coming out soon, I think we’ll listen to that next.

What a pleasure to knit and listen. Enjoy!

FO Friday: Stash Reorganization begins…

First order of business. I have finished my first project of 2012! This is one of my absolute favourite patterns, I even have it memorized. All I need is the outline of the foot the sock is for and off I go, custom socks!

Pattern: Sue’s EZ Toe-up Socks

Needles: (5) 2.5mm Knitter’s Pride (Nova) Sock dpn

(1) 3.25mm dpn

Yarn: Lang Yarns Jawoll Color (fingering)

Regia 4-fadig (fingering)

Comment: I love these needles! Would highly recommend. The Jawoll was great and beautiful colour and comes with a spool of reenforcement thread for the heel (which I didn’t actually use). I was lucky to have just enough contrasting colour for the heels in the Regia.

Resolution#1 a: I tipped out the living room, hunting out every bit of stash. I reorganized my sock stash, and catalogued and boxed everything! Now to find new homes for it all.

The sock stash is organized and reboxed and will continue to live behind the chesterfield.  The WIP’s will live in the foot stool. Everything else will have to live somewhere else!

6 days and counting without stash enhancement

Well bought a knitting book, does that count?

Review forthcoming!

FO Friday: Yeh, happy dance! Tea Cozy done and dusted!

The Tea Cozy that started it all! Sorry no picture of #2, it was very nice :0)

Whoopee, no more Tea Cozies, it has left the building!

See WIP Wed Post

I have to admit the pessimist in me is waiting to be volunteered for the

next noxious task, but in the meanwhile remember snoopy dancing with the easter bunny’s that’s me :0)

Pardon me Details:

Yarn: Kertzer Northern Worsted

All time favourite TC made in the early 90's

Needles: 6mm circ

Pattern: Knitted Pleated Tea Cosy by Tea and Roses

3rd and last!

However this little 2 cupper is still my favourite, I made it a long time ago and it is still goin strong!

For more fun FO Friday visit Tami!

WIP Wed: Yet unnamed Baby Blanket

Blanky

As yet unnamed blanky. 2 more balls to knit, should be about 24×36″ when finished.

Done, see FO Fri post. Named it “Micah’s Blanky”

I enjoyed knitting this blanket.
My cousin has a lovely little girl named Micah, his youngest daughter, who is full of laughter and smiles this yarn reminds me of her :0)

Gallery: Just finished! Leafy facecloths by Meagan Goodacre

Leafy Facecloths

These are fun, fast, cheap, and free pattern, the best of everything. Great for a gift with handmade soap.

Thanks to the generousity of Meagan Goodacre.

FO Friday: Coffee cup and H2O Bottle Cozys

Sorry offering is so small. I have a bunch of bigger stuff in the works. The Coffee cup and Water Bottle cozy are a test run for a Commuter set I am thinking about.
