FO Friday: A Busy Week

Knitting 3

It has been a rather nice week. “The Plan” is chugging along, things are dropping off the WIP list. The weather has been getting fractionally warmer. Still wearing the wooliez, but the sun is out. Been out twice for supper with friends.

Went to the Theatre to see “An Affair to Remember” (starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr) on the big screen. I love old movies, what a treat!

The Plan Progress

Wednesday: Mile a minute afghan – Done!

????????????????????

Having finished this I completed the first

Lovely & Thick Roses Socks (Jan/Kal)

Having decided that these heavy socks would not fit in my ankle boots, I am making boot cuffs instead.

Book: Darcy and Fitzwilliam by Karen V. Wasylowski

(A continuation of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen)

Finished reading this delightful and unusual take on Mr. Darcy and Colonel Fitzwilliam’s relationship. Totally recommend this slightly off beat book. You may have to acquire it in eformat, as this book was purchased from the last copy shelf. Unfortunately I was so absorbed that my knitting ended up getting ignored.

I am almost over my cold and am getting stronger by the day. Lots of progress on The Plan. Two UFO’s done and a few more to go.

Friday: Lovely & Thick Roses Socks (Jan/Kal)

Planning to make these as Boot Cuffs rather than socks. I don't think they would fit in my boots.

  4. Success!
  5. I will not replenish my stash as it deminishes unless DH approves  (update this lasted for 20 days last year) I am going to see how long I will last this year!
  6. Goal this year, significant stash reduction! Again!
  7. My studio will be dumped out and made into a haven for Knitting, sewing and scrapbooking! Well it is a mess, but a usable mess!

WIP Weds: The Plan takes to the road

tami_wip

We spent Saturday, Sunday, and Monday in Ottawa, Canada, attending a wedding and generally touring around our countries’ capital.

Friday

Packing and family organizing day. Trying to remember everything. So no knitting.

Then The Plan goes on the road!

Saturday,  Sunday, and Monday

I decided that one project should go on the road with me, as I didn’t see that other than during the 6 hour drive each way. I thought I wasn’t going to get much work done on it.

All about love shawlette  Done!

Very happy with this, not only quick and easy, it is lovely and cushy.

Saturday: 6 hour drive, (it was a little farther than we thought) DS read “Little Fuzzy” by H Beam Piper. DH drove and I knit, the weather was perfect!

Got to Motel in Plantagenet, unloaded then drove back to Ottawa for an early supper. Toured around, went to the Byward Market, then drove around to see the Parliament buildings.

Our countries capital

Our countries capital

Supreme court, Christ Church Cathedral, and past 24 Sussex Dr, (The Prime Minister didn’t invite us in for tea)

On Sunday we enjoyed the Buffet Brunch at our motel. The went off in search of a Church. Took a bit of looking as this area is predominantly Catholic and francophone. The priest at the local Catholic church in Hawksbury directed us to Trinity Anglican. A lovely old church, built 10 yrs (1846) before St Georges Newcastle (1856). Later in the afternoon we went to the Wedding.

Very best wishes for a long and happy life together Kyle and Jenny.

Here is a link if you want to see more

Morning smile: On the way home we saw these signs along the road.

I guess they attempt to sprint across the road in an 80km zone. I suspect this is to let you know what the bump was that you just ran over lol

Monday we left well before dawn, got home at 11:00am. We dragged in the luggage, fed the furries and crashed in bed. I don’t remember much after that. DH was on call, so we needed to be at home… If I wasn’t so tired I’d kick him!

Tuesday and Wednesday

Totally wrecked from the weekend, did absolutely nothing.

Update on DS: Things continue to heal. (for more info see previous posts) He is almost completely off pain killers now and sleeping soundly at night. His arm is still in a sling and will be for another week or two. He is not allowed to do anything with it for at least 6 weeks. He has been amazing really, going to work and not complaining about his shoulder at all. We are very proud of his attitude about his condition and his job. I do wish he would rest more, but at 22 yrs old I guess he has to do what he wants to do.

What I’m reading: Dear Mr. Darcy by Amanda Grange

I received this book from my family for my Birthday. They know how much I like Jane Austen. I am really enjoying it. It’s epistolary, a book of letters between all the characters describing “Pride and Prejudice” from each characters point of view. Truly delightful, and insightful, I highly recommend it!

Update on my DS’s condition: He got his Titanium Clavicle on Tuesday. These last few days have been very painful for him. He insisted he is going to work today. New job, and he is worried he will lose it, so he’s pushing himself.

Yes he’s stubborn! We’ll see if he can last the day.
