Fo Friday: Charybdis Socks

Well the last couple of weeks have not been something to write home about. My DH and DS packed me off to the hospital emergency department, having lost the battle with pain control.  Thank goodness for socialized medicine here in Canada.  The staff at our local hospital were incredible! My meds had totally wiped out my stomach, squeeze, sweating crying and totally out of control. They treated me so kindly. I was so embarrassed, my only excuse is that anyone would lose it when in excruciating pain with nausea. That was Tuesday, things are slowly improving. Still in my wheelchair, hope to be up and about sometime next week.

Meanwhile I have been spending my time designing a sock pattern I origionally referred to these as “The Sock to be Named Later”, well I settled on Charybdis Socks

Charybdis Socks

They are quick and easy to make, Top-down.

All you need to know is Long-tail cast on, knit, Purl, and k2tog.

They feature spiral toes and

Charybdis Socks – toe

Charybdis Socks – heel

And an after thought spiral heel.

I’m working on these for my Carry along forum’s Holiday Gift Kal.  These socks are intended for DH.

If you would like to knit a pair.  will be free to those who visit my Blog, all I ask is that you post the finished socks on Ravelry :0)

and rereading Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” as always a great escape!

FO Friday: Regarding Radio Silence?

Sorry to be so quiet, those of you that actually follow my musings are well aware this is about a first. It’s not you, it’s me. My back has been giving me a whale of a time.

Basically, Lovely, and wretched weekend. Lovely time at the Kitchener/Waterloo Knitters fair with my favourite men. (knittyBlog did a lovely post) Wretched went in my wheelchair. Lovely time at church Sunday morning, wretched with W-Chair. Lovely viisit to fair to pick up my entries from the fair, wretched in wheelchair, I was supposed to do some Handspinning with the girls at the fair. Needless to say didn’t happen. I have discovered a new use for myself – cat bed.

Jack woke up long enough to fall asleep again

Still having difficulty today, so rather wretched, anticipate a few more weeks living the life of a question mark…:0(

I am getting some knitting done

Wip Weds: Just about ready to hand in Fair entries!

Life is getting a little busy this week!

Looking for prayers today, my nephew in Wisconsin is going in for surgery. His knee was badly damaged in a football game this week. Doctor is going place screws through the right side of his knee, across the two broken pieces and up from the right side into the top of the bone.  In six weeks or so these screws will be removed and the ACL  will be sown back together.  After that it’s physiotherapy for four or five months to get everything working again.  Surgery is at 2:30pm.  When offered Wed or Thur for the surgery my nephew chose Wed so he could go to the game on Friday against Osseo.

Tonight is the first “Knittin nite” at my favourite LYS, yay. I have missed this group over the summer. On Thursday get my entries ready and handed in at the fair grounds between 8-10am. DS goes back to start his 4th year of University. On Friday I have physiotherapy in the morning, lunch with my MiL and giving a knitting lesson at 2:30pm, then to Fair to see the entry results. Saturday off to the Kitchener / Waterloo Knitters fair. This is the only knitting event that my guys take me to. My DH, and DS take turns driving me around the enormous halls full of fibre! Then we go to lunch on the way home. Sunday I will be spinning all day in the Bunny Barn at the Fair with the “Durham Handspinning Guild”. Hope to see ya there :0)

The Jar – I haven’t decided if spinning fibre scraps are Jar worthy.
