WIP Weds: Getting Ready for Ravellenic 2014

With only two days to go to the Olympics

and the opening of the Ravellenic Games 2014. Maybe I should explain… I am a member of an online knitting group that is international, with a couple of million members. Each Olympics we run parallel games for knitters that reflect events that are happening at the games. The last time I participated was in 2012, it was such fun. I joined Team Canada and am making a run at 12 medals this time, in 17 days!

Team Canada

I’m on Team Canada

The events I plan to enter. I think most of this is possible for me.

These are doubling for LYS yarn Challenge as well as Ravellenic. Both are on at the same time.

Huston, we had a problem… Yes I had to frog from 1/2 way through chart B, transition between chart A & B run amuck! Back on track now finished 1st repeat of chart B. Life-lines! Lace weight is a pain when things start to go pear-shaped. Otherwise enjoying this project :0)

WIP Weds: Yarn and Book tourism in Toronto

tami_wip

On Saturday DH, DS, and I made for Toronto. The trip from here takes about and hour. After dropping DS off at “Adastra”, a sci-fi convention in the north of the city, DH and I headed down the Don Valley Parkway and into Toronto.

CN Tower downtown Toronto, Canada

CN Tower downtown Toronto, Canada

First stop Romni wools, where I adopted some poor lost wool and some other stuff…

????????????????

Then Bakka Phoenix Books specializing in Sci-fi and fantasy books, we liberated a few.

??????????

Then off for lunch in Greek-town on the danforth, next stop The Sleuth of Baker Street bookstore, wonderful store full of detective and crime novels. Needless to say we did a little more liberating.

??????????????????????

On the way home we gathered up DS from the convention, one of our favourite authors Jim Butcher (Dresden Files novels) was speaking and darling DS brought us an autographed book and DH bought another book… “Ghost Story”

Basically Yarn and Book tourism in Toronto :0)

Meanwhile back at the ranch…

Began casting on. I am recalling how much I enjoy casting on lace weight yarn – Not! (383 st total!) Cast on 1/2 of the stitches, put it down for the night. Next day finished it off, then realized I was using different cast on method – Oops again! Start again grrrr!
