WIPs: Carry Along Projects for February

I have been a member of the Ravelry.com Carry Along Forum since 2012. Each month we make a list of projects and vote for the 3 that everyone likes best. You can knit whichever one, two or three you like. The only criteria; must be free on Ravelry, and hopefully small enough to take with you on your travels.

This month I have opted to do 2 of the 3 Kals.

Both of these came from stashed yarn!

Since 2012 I have completed 30 KALs with this group of great people!

Knit by the Dozen Socks. I started knitting these while I was ill socks.
Modification: Inserted heel rather than Short row in the original pattern.

As I look back on my New Years Resolutions for 2014, I am stunned by the number of things I finished this year.

In 2011 – 105,

Resolutions for 2015!

1. I will Complete 8 WIP’s on my list
2. I will knit the lovely Madeline Tosh Sock yarn (spectrum) my DH gave me for Christmas 2014! 
3. I have given up on organizing my stash, instead I will parcel up 15 projects with pattern,  stash yarn etc that I will make this year! Ok this sounded like a great plan, last year and yes I did parcel up 14 projects ready to go…still there nothing happened. Going to add one more for 2015…
4. I will make ALL items for the Church Bazaar and craft sales from stash!
5. I will not replenish my stash as it deminishes unless DH approves  (update this lasted for 25 days last year) I am going to see how long I will last this year!
6. Goal this year, significant stash reduction! Again!
7. I am counting making my studio usable as a minor success. However the Guyz tidied the house for Christmas and the a lot of stuff has disappeared and 4 laundry baskets are missing, I am guessing where… back on the list since 2013!
8. I will complete one handmade gift for each of the 11 people that will be joining us Christmas 2015 
9. I will make my DH and DS each a Scarf this year
10. I will spin more. I have been spinning a little more, and I need to dig out my sewing machine this year too.
11. I am going to invest in Shelving and containers and organize (sort of ) my stash and studio. 
12. I will join Fibreholics anonymous (Just kidding :0)
13. I am going to use more none virtual patterns, I have loads of knitting books, magazines and patterns I should use them!

Total of 13 Fibre Resolutions for 2015, we will see how this goes :0)

I have been experiencing a bad case of ideaitis. An urge to invent something new. So in an attempt to get control of my WIP Count, I thought it my be a good time to review the to do list to maintain some semblance of rationality! So here we go…

WIP Weds: Soper Creek Yarn Challenge

Currently we are having sunny but really nasty cold weather. I am rebelling and put flowers along our driveway! 6 to 8 weeks till spring in this neck of the woods :0(

Quick note today, I’m out and about for Ash Weds. Church, then the craft group, lunch with friends and off to Knit nite at the LYS. Busy, Busy! Have a nice day. Wishing you all the best through the Lenten Season.

Happy New Year 2014!

Happy New Years all!

For info on the past year there is a short note on my last post

Well it has been an active year.

As I look back on my New Years Resolutions for 2013, I am stunned by the number of things I finished this year.

In 2011 – 105, 2012 – 78,

2013 – 112 It’s been a good year!

Update on New Years Resolutions for 2013

 

#1 I will Complete 7 WIP’s that have been sitting around. Done!

#4 I will make ALL items for the Church Bazaar and craft sales from stash! 98% success with this one!

#7 I am counting making my studio usable as a minor success. However the Guyz tidied the house for Christmas and the a lot of stuff has disappeared and 4 laundry baskets are missing, I am guessing where… back on the 2014 list!

#8 I will complete one handmade gift for each of the 11 people that will be joining us Christmas 2013 Woohoo total success!

This years Resolutions!

• Of the 14 wips I am starting the year with if they are still on the list next New Years, they get frogged!

I fill this jar with scraps trimmed from my knitting each year. This year 63gms, (2012 it was 40gms).

In the spring I will put it all in an onion bag and hang it outside for the birds to use for nest building.

WIP Weds: It’s Fall here in Canada

The leaves are beginning to change, and the weather has been lovely. The air smells like nature is getting ready for bed. Our local farmers market is full of produce.

 We have started the count down till Christmas. My Brother and his family will be with us this year, so I am also thinking of gifts for 8  people. I have started by looking at my WIP list, and I am also looking in my Ravelry queue for ideas.

I have 3 people over 78yrs, 4 people over 45yrs (1 already looked after) and 3 people between 18 and 23yrs (1 already looked after) Total people at Christmas dinner this year will be 10 people, it’s been 2 years since we have all been together for Christmas!

The Jar for Jan/Sept 2013

About an inch and a half left to fill…

I’m recycling my vintage glasses! Brass frames, they were expensive frames back then. I bought them to wear with my business suits, briefcase and high heels. They are 25yrs old, cat chewed arm, scratched up, and missing a nose pad now. Happy Camper, I was actually looking through the buffet for something else, found almost ready to expire coupon and my old glasses that were not fit to donate to charity! Don’t know how they survived my medical retirement, all the moves, spring cleaning and purges to be reborn!

Using my mad negotiation skills, got the price from outrageous $109.00 plus tax to recycle them to $40.00 flat, for reading glasses lenses, then I  pulled $50.00 gift card from  my pocket told her to keep the change. lol
New/old improved Brass framed reading glasses… Priceless, and they are recovering the chewed ear pcs and installing new nose pads.

To celebrate I invented a new eye glasses chain made of buttons. The lighter side of the me that was, and has been reborn after cancer and career change :0)

The Plan began July 3, 2013. Yes I am dying to start something new. I have decided to organize some future projects. I have bagged a few things with pattern, and needles. I will start something when I get down to 7 wips!

What I’m reading: Dear Mr. Darcy by Amanda Grange

I received this book from my family for my Birthday. They know how much I like Jane Austen. I am really enjoying it. It’s epistolary, a book of letters between all the characters describing “Pride and Prejudice” from each characters point of view. Truly delightful, and insightful, I highly recommend it!

Update on my DS’s condition: He got his Titanium Clavicle on Tuesday. These last few days have been very painful for him. He insisted he is going to work today. New job, and he is worried he will lose it, so he’s pushing himself.

Yes he’s stubborn! We’ll see if he can last the day.
