Hey, the boy came home early from a 12 day business trip today! We spoiled him silly, Roast Beef dinner with all the trimmings, took him out to a movie, made him mow the lawn, and help plant the veggie garden.

And pull the old dry stocks from the Wild Flower/ Butterfly Garden along the back fence.

In a few weeks will be gorgeous!

In a few weeks will be gorgeous!

Then this morning he is off on 10 day holiday with my parents to visit family in the States.  I really miss him when he is way.  He may be all grown up but I still text him to remind him to brush his teeth… makes him laugh. Hey I’m a Mom!

Inspiration Monday – have you tested a pattern lately?

Test knitting!

because wool fixes everything

I’ve been lucky to snag some really great chances to test new patterns. I love test knitting, it’s such a great way to help out designers while scoring a free pattern! Remember over Christmas I test knit my Cascade Falls cardigan? Gorgeous cardi, free pattern, a bit of say in design…what’s not to love? I’ve test knit a few hats, bunny slippers, a scarf and now my newest test knit I’m casting on is abstract butterfly lace shawl

20140526-083915-31155469.jpg

Isn’t it pretty? I’m using an emerald green malabrigo sock yarn. I think. Decisions decisions!

If I’m ever feeling in a knit slump I like to peruse the test knit forums on ravelry and see if any tickle my fancy. I visited this morning and found all these great patterns available to test!

WIP Wednesday- haruni for a great teacher

because wool fixes everything

Hello my lovelies! I apologize for my lack of posts since last week, I’m afraid life got away from me and pow…it’s Wednesday again! I feel like I blinked and missed it!
This was a much celebrated long weekend in these parts, the official kick off to summer weekends and yours truly enjoyed every fleeting second. There may have been onetwothree multiple bottles of wine drank to celebrate ye olde Victoria Day, haha! Not unsurprisingly, in related knitting news, I had to pull back 8 rows of lace on my current project….oups!
Let’s all say it together…don’t drink and knit lace!

Speaking of lace…tada! My modified Haruni is shaping up nicely! It’s the end-of-year present for my daughter’s fabulous kindergarten teacher. I hope she loves it!

Miles of stockinette went pretty quickly. I elongated the shawl from a typical triangle by increasing 4 stitches on the RS…

In the Midst of Death there can be life…

This has been quite a week.

Donald Kenneth “Ken” Bromley

Last week a Kenneth Bromley a close friend of our family passed away. He had been very ill for sometime. He called this wife to his side and told her he was going home. He left this world shortly there after. He was surrounded by those that loved and cared for him. He lived a very full life of service to the community, he was a WW-ll veteran and as a valued member of the Police force. My thoughts and prayers are with Marilyn his wife of many years and a dear fibre friend, and her family. The Funeral is today, we will be celebrating his life in the sure knowledge that he is now free of worldly cares and is at peace.

In the midst of sorrow another fibre friend has brought a new life into the world. Born just after 5:00 am on Monday. Shawna and Dawson are doing  just fine.

Blessings to all!

Inspiration Monday – let’s talk socks

Watermellon socks I love it!!

because wool fixes everything

This time of year my brain starts trying to make hot weather into knitting weather. I couldn’t condone not knitting at all, but there is something inherently wrong with getting a sunburn while knitting a sweater. Or a tuque. Yes, even my beloved hats don’t do it for me during the summer (but I’m a Gemini, so of course I’ve knit a hat…during a heat wave. Rules are made to be broken!). So. Socks it is. I love having a pair tucked in my bag for knitting on the go. I just had to share the socks that are making me moan this spring

watermelon self-stripping socks?! Yes please!
