WIP Weds: The Celebration Continues!

tami_wip

The festivities continue! My 2nd Blogaversary was yesterday,

Last Friday’s gift was Toddler Tootsies pdf  so today I have a 2nd present for you :0)

Micah’s Blanky

Great gift for a Baby Shower, or child’s birthday. At 24”x36” it is the perfect size for a crib, stroller, or a car seat. This comfy little blanket is knit from the bottom-up with Garter stitch borders and a flat edge stitch detail. Knit in worsted, so works up quickly. The lace design is worked over 4 rows with only 2 lace rows to remember.

So on to my Works in Progress, it is Wednesday after all!

DH has been bugging for a new hat since DS pinched his. Truth is they both need a new one! Well I had been thinking about doing The Modjeska Hat that  texaspurlgurl gifted me last month. So here we go!

M

I modified the pattern by making a facing rather than ribbed edge. Living in Canada, my fella prefers a double thickness over his ears.

I continue to work on what I have now dubbed my Christmas sweater!

Moved to box as it is getting too large for my bag, and my furry children were getting too interested in it.

It may not be done till next Christmas ;0)

I have been Spring cleaning or fresh starting would be more accurate.

I realized I have purchased 34 patterns and have only made 6!

Audiobook I am reading while knitting:
Walden by Henry David Thoreau Read by Gord Mackenzie. I read this years ago, and found in it a call to simplification of life.

Book this week: The Warden by Anthony Trollope (Ebook)
I am so fond of The Barchester Chronicles Series I bought the Complete works of Anthony Trollope for my Kobo (only $2.88) There are books in this collection that are no longer in print, plus other writings and biography! This book is a particular favourite. The main character is such a nice little man and you really feel for him all the way through. Delightful, a classic worth reading!
Music offering: “Great Big Sea” was such a success last week here is
Old Brown’s Daughter beautiful  acapella.

FO Friday: So what happened to winter?

I can’t believe it, this time last year my backyard looked like this

This year my backyard looks like this.

Winter Feb 2012

Irony is, posting this on my blog and having it snow all day saturday then turn sunny clear and white, now that’s irony!

Wishing for spring, so my FO this week is an anticipation of Easter.

Yes a bunny!

FO Friday: Remembrance Day

Today is Remembrance Day, take a moment to pray for the lost lives, military and civilian that have shaped our world. Grieve just for a moment at the waste on both sides in war and peace keeping.

Well it’s friday again! All in all a fairly productive week. Finished my Baby Hat , Mittens and designed a little scarf, for the Christmas craft sale and rounded the corner so to speak on the Christmas sock. I have been on a reading jag so the house is a bit of a tip. One has to have priorities, lol.

We are going on an adventure this weekend. As some of you know hubby has had some challenges this summer, that brought our lives to almost a stand still. Things are getting back to normal… thank goodness, so to celebrate we are going into Toronto to the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum). Yes we are geeks! It has been a while since we have visited this world class museum. Hubby, myself, our DS and his GF (who is also a little geeky) plan to enjoy the exhibits then go to the “Old Spaghetti Factory” for supper.

Baby Hat, mitts and scarf

Well for more Fun Friday projects check out Tami’s blog.

Thanks for stopping by and have a nice weekend.

FO Friday: Autumn in Canada

Well Autumn is almost over.

The leaves are turning, colours that never look so good in knitting and spinning.

I live east of Toronto, Canada, on Lake Ontario. The weather here in the fall alternates between cool, wet and cool sunny. Fall only lasts a couple of weeks around here, leaves will probibly be gone by next week. If you missed it, wednesday I posted the pictures of the Bazaar.

Sadly these will be gone soon

Finished Baby Cardigan From Cabin Fever Basic Sweater, Size 9 months, on 5mm,  used Kertzer Northern Worsted (Black), Red Heart supersaver (Fall). 5 buttons.

This worked up surpisingly quickly

Finished the “Zig Zag Scarf” by Tina Berry, 5mm, used SMC Northern Worsted.

The Garage and front door is done! I wondered if they could be finished before the weather turned cold and white.

Well, that’s it for now. Have a good weekend.

FO Friday: The Cat in the Hat strikes again!

Welcome to another fun filled FO Friday.

This promises to be  a wild day today, I have physiowww and lunch with MIL. DH, DS and I all have Dr. appointments in different towns, and then I get to pass out on the couch!

On WIP wed. I teased you with a peek at the yarn for Thing 1 & Thing 2 (ala Cat in the Hat by Dr. Suess) Somewhat appropriate considering Dr. visits today. For more details look here.

Thing 1 & Thing 2

I am also developing a pattern for a Dicky  in multiple weights of yarn, just finished number one. For more detail look here. More on this later.

Dicky 1 in Bulky yarn

For more inspiring Finished Objects visit the crowd at Tami’s Blog.

Willow doing what she does best zzzz

Nice seeing you, leave a comment and come back soon.

FO Friday: Small Sweater finished

Sorry for missing WIP Weds, lots on the go but I was not.

My project this week was the Basic Pullover, knit on 4mm circs, in SMC Jacquard Bravo color Dk weight yarn. Made from 3 balls @ 3.99 cdn each. Can be purchased via interwebs from Soper Creek Yarns. This one may go in the drawer, or to the Bazaar. I don’t usually donate projects this expensive … however no little persons to put it on currently and it is a little gender specific.

Remember Dr. Suess, I made this little Hat this week and the family think it looks like a hat a Who would wear. For more details look here.

DH has significantly improved, next move is to get his drivers license back. Thanks for the kind thoughts and support.

Join the rest of the group and see more FO Friday at Tami’s Blog.
