Happy New Year 2014!

Happy New Years all!

For info on the past year there is a short note on my last post

Well it has been an active year.

As I look back on my New Years Resolutions for 2013, I am stunned by the number of things I finished this year.

In 2011 – 105, 2012 – 78,

2013 – 112 It’s been a good year!

Update on New Years Resolutions for 2013

 

#1 I will Complete 7 WIP’s that have been sitting around. Done!

#4 I will make ALL items for the Church Bazaar and craft sales from stash! 98% success with this one!

#7 I am counting making my studio usable as a minor success. However the Guyz tidied the house for Christmas and the a lot of stuff has disappeared and 4 laundry baskets are missing, I am guessing where… back on the 2014 list!

#8 I will complete one handmade gift for each of the 11 people that will be joining us Christmas 2013 Woohoo total success!

#9 I will make my DH and DS each a Hat Another success!

This years Resolutions!

1. Success!
2. I will knit both sweater patterns my DH gave me for Christmas 2012! One is almost done
3. I have given up on organizing my stash, instead I will parcel up 13 projects with pattern,  stash yarn etc that I will make this year! Ok this sounded like a great plan, and yes I did parcel up 13 projects ready to go…still there nothing happened. Going to add one more for 2014…
4. Success!
5. I will not replenish my stash as it deminishes unless DH approves  (update this lasted for 20 days last year) I am going to see how long I will last this year!
6. Goal this year, significant stash reduction! Again!
7. My studio will be dumped out and made into a haven for Knitting, sewing and scrapbooking! Well it is a mess, but a usable mess!
8. Total Success!
9. Success Woohoo!
10. Last fibre related resolution, I will spin more. I have been spinning a little more, and started sewing more this year too. (see resolution #7)

Added Resolutions for 2014

• Of the 14 wips I am starting the year with if they are still on the list next New Years, they get frogged!
• I am going to invest in Shelving and containers and organize (sort of ) my stash.
• I will join Fibreholics anonymous (Just kidding :0)
• I am going to reinstitute The Plan: I will cycle through the list of wips one a day till this list gets to a more manageable size!
• I am going to use more none virtual patterns, I have loads of knitting books, magazines and patterns I should use them!

Total of 10 Fibre Resolutions for 2014, we will see how this goes :0)

The Jar 2013

The Jar Dec 2013
I fill this jar with scraps trimmed from my knitting each year. This year 63gms, (2012 it was 40gms).

In the spring I will put it all in an onion bag and hang it outside for the birds to use for nest building.

Wishing you all  very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!

Still working on a few last minute odds and ends. The Boyz are baking, the Furry children are napping, and I am writing to you, and contemplating the gifts that need wrapping. This has been a busy year, my son graduated University, and promptly went back to college. He also managed to become bionic, having a titanium collar bone installed after a very nasty break running for the bus on his way home from his first day of work. The Job is going splendidly despite the rough start. My Husband and I continue to do well. I am still waiting for some medical tests, but they are in no hurry so we will take this for a good sign. Jack and Willow continue to live the lives of riley, napping, eating, cuddling and getting into trouble. We were pleased to attend two weddings this year.  We also attended my Aunt’s  funeral, she will be greatly missed.

This year has been full of knitting, some sewing and many fibrey events with my dear fibreholic friends. What fun! All that remains for me to say is thank you for your interest and support. I have enjoyed this years Blogging and hope you will come back next year to see what mischief I can get into.

Fab Friday: Christmas Craft Sale

Just a reminder: St.Georges Anglican Church Christmas Craft Sale in Newcastle, Ontario on Saturday December 7, 2013 from 10am to 2pm. About 45mins east of Toronto on the Hwy 401.

There will be tables full of handcrafted items, bake goods, and coffee and goodies. We are fundraising for a Wheelchair Ramp into our church hall. We anticipate I will go up next year. Our Craft Group has been working on this special project for sometime. All are welcome. This is where a lot of my projects go :0)

Good morning!

It’s Friday and like usual I’m running around like a wet hen. I have Physio, then a visit with my friends at my LYS, then off to shop for groceries and lunch with MiL. Try to get some knitting done for the Craft Sale at Church next month. Somewhere in there have to make time to see a friend recently moved to a seniors residence.

Hilda is 90yrs old and till recently lived in her own home. She is a close family friend.

But I want to catch up with you guyz first :0)

FO Friday: It was a dark and stormy night!

It was indeed a dark and stormy night, but the Canadian kids were up to the challenge. Trick or Treaters still showed up at our door. A good thing the diabetics in my house invested heavily in chocolate this year.

They even got some nut free candy :0)

Well the Box is all packed to take to the St Georges Anglican Church Bazaar tomorrow. There will be lots of crafts, baking, and jewellry for sale and an excellent lunch, Coffee, tea, or Juice, assorted soups with sandwiches. It starts at 10am. The Church is at 250 Mill st, Newcastle Ontario, Cda. Everyone is welcome!

What’z really scary!

As you are aware, I have startitis which adds up to a few WIP’s.

What you may not know about me is that I read numerous books at once too! Maybe a few too many at the moment?

I don’t always feel like reading the same book and yes I can keep track! The rest of my life is more linear.

Is anyone interested in a Sports Bra, Ladies Underwear, or Unisex Boxer Shorts Tutorial? I am thinking of making some and will record the process. Please list which you are interested in. So far there has been one vote for a Sports Bra. Anyone else want to weigh in? I will probably be doing an example of each. So I am going to try a poll to determine which to plan first.

Unisex Boxer Shorts Tutorial won. Don’t worry I will get around to the other two! I wanted to tell you how much I appreciated all the participation with this. It is really nice to get feed back.

FO Friday: Andy’s Capp

When I was a kid we had the Andy Capp comics around the house.

Andy’s Capp  I think I captured the essence of Andy’s Cap

DH loves it and has declared it’s his. Too bad it was a Christmas present. Have to make another one :0)

 Looking on Ravelry I couldn’t find something similar, so I came up with this. I saw something similar on a vintage pattern, knit on straight needles. I tried to keep to the spirit of the old pattern with a bunch of more modern  modifications, knit in the round, not as floppy resized and changed the needles to tighten the finished fabric…

He says this makes him look English. Quite an achievement since his parents were German and Czech :0)

I have to admit I’ve been naughty this week. I dug out Diablo 2. The country side is now safe for settlers in several districts. Nothing relieves stress like a little chainsaws and pixies  :0)
